Deformation analysis
By comparing scans taken at different times we precisely detect settlement, deflection and other deformations of structures. The results help assess the technical condition and safety of buildings and structures in good time.
Detecting deformations with 3D scanning
Deformation analysis shows precisely how a structure changes over time. We scan the object repeatedly — at set intervals, or before and after loading — and compare the resulting point clouds with each other or with the design model. Deviations are presented as a colour map in which it is immediately clear where the changes occurred and how large they are.
What can be measured
- Settlement of buildings and foundations;
- Deflection of slabs and beams;
- Deviation of walls and façades from the vertical;
- Differences between the designed and the actually built structure.
When it is needed
Deformation monitoring matters during adjacent construction, excavation or piling works, for old buildings and buildings in emergency condition, and for bridges, tanks and other engineering structures, where a deviation detected in time prevents serious damage.
